SELF - HELP FOR DEPRESSION

DEPRESSION

If you suffer from depression you may have come to believe in a LIE!

THE LIE!

I believe that I am intrinsically bad and unacceptable and have to work hard to be good.

HOWEVER

If you really believe you are bad and unacceptable no amount of effort on your part will make you feel good in the long term.

ANTIDOTE TO DEPRESSION

This is to value and accept yourself. (This will not be easy at first, however, the longest journey begins with the first step.)

STRATAGEM

1. Challenge the LIE, and be prepared to change your mind about yourself i.e., that you are valuable and acceptable.

2. Start by ceasing to constantly judge yourself and others.

3. Forgive yourself (for all the harsh criticisms you have put yourself through). Forgive others. Remember, YOU ARE NOT YOUR MISTAKES.

4. Learn to love both yourself and others unconditionally (without judgment.)

5. Remember the law of PROJECTION - as you judge others so you judge yourself (When, for example, you judge another as weak - then this is evidence that you have already judged yourself as weak.)

6. A person who truly values and accepts themselves does not judge others as weak, useless, bad, unacceptable, etc. Nor does he judge himself so.

7. You were born loving and accepting of yourself. However, due to the constant criticism of significant others you decided to believe in a LIE. End this now by deciding to change the way you think about yourself.

SELF ACCEPTANCE - PROJECTION
When you meet anyone, remember it is a holy
encounter.

As you see him you will see yourself.

As you treat him you will treat yourself.

As you think of him you will think of yourself.

Never forget this, for in him you will find

yourself or lose yourself.

From A Course In Miracles
